0:2 against Fürth: Second home defeat for Kaiserslautern
1. FC Kaiserslautern have suffered their second home defeat of the season. On matchday 12 of the Bundesliga 2, the Palatinate side lost 2-0 (0-1) to SpVgg Greuther Fürth, dropping them to eighth in the table with 18 points behind their rivals, who are now level on points.
In front of 40,302 spectators at the Fritz Walter Stadium, Gideon Jung in the 23rd minute and Julian Green (54th/foul penalty) scored the goals for the visitors on Saturday. Kaiserslautern finished the game with only nine players. First Boris Tomiak (69) was shown the red card for an assault, then Kevin Kraus retired in stoppage time with a head injury and could not be replaced due to the already exhausted substitution quota.
Fürth were the dominant team in the first half and could have had a bigger lead at the break. FCK coach Dirk Schuster demonstrated his dissatisfaction with his team's performance by making three changes at the restart. The home side were now much more pressing and came close to equalizing. However, substitute Philipp Klement (50') only hit the post.
However, the Red Devils' momentum quickly waned when goalkeeper Julian Krahl brought down Branimir Hrgota from Fürth in the penalty area and Green safely converted the spot-kick. Terrence Boyd (66) had the chance to tie the scores but his shot was blocked. In the end, it was a deserved away win for the visitors.
Despite the home advantage, 1st FC Kaiserslautern struggled in Bundesliga 2's match against Fürth, with Gideon Jung (23') and Julian Green (54' penalty) scoring for the visitors. This defeat in their own stadium was the second home loss for Kaiserslautern in the current Bundesliga 2 season, affecting their position and leaving them behind Fürth, who now share points with them.
