Marcas de coches de lujo: Ferrari, Audi y Fiat dominan el mercado - Los coches que recibirán matrículas H a partir de 2024 se etiquetarán inicialmente como vehículos clásicos.
Whether it's a VW Polo III, BMW E36 Compact, or Ferrari 355 Berlinetta - these vehicles, though not traditionally eye-catching, are part of the new generation's future classics and have reached an age where they could get an H-plate in the registration office in Germany. Yet, the eagerness to grab some of these models isn't for everyone - not every classic car from back then was a heartthrob.
The term "Ugly but Rare" could be applied to many vehicles, like the Ford Scorpio MK2, which struggled to find takers due to its questionable aesthetics in the '90s. The Opel Tigra, with its unique design, is another example.
Among the aging cars, there are undoubtedly genuine classics that are worth having - for instance, the Porsche 911 Cabrio of the 993 series, which is old enough. Furthermore, these cars, being the last air-cooled Porsche 911s, are already highly desired classics. Similar adoration surrounds the Ferrari 355 Berlinetta, which boasted impressive driving dynamics, despite its comparatively small engine, and was a hit for Ferrari in terms of sales.
A classic car needn't be a fancy sports car, though; the popular Fiat Punto in Europe will turn 30 as a Cabrio in a year. And if you fancy something unique, the first Toyota RAV4 could be worth a look. For a more exclusive find, keep an eye out for the VW Polo 6N - the Harlequin Edition of this car only needs to wait one more year to become a classic. Its base model is already two grand old.
H-plate Meaning in Germany and Acquisition
To get an H-plate for classic cars in Germany, you first need an expert report from a recognized tester under Paragraph 23 of the Road Traffic Registration Ordinance, confirming that the vehicle is at least 30 years old and in good original condition. After that, a trip to the registration office with all the required documents is necessary.
An H-plate for classic German cars offers several benefits, such as a reduced car tax of €191.73 per year, regardless of engine size or emissions, and access to environmental zones without restrictions. Insurance providers also often provide cheaper classic car tariffs compared to regular car insurance policies for vehicles with H-plates.
The cars featured in the gallery aren't all the future classics for 2024; "Handelsblatt" recently published an extensive list.
