Woman breaks down apartment door and strangles 16-year-old girl

A woman has broken down an apartment door in Magdeburg and attacked a 16-year-old resident. The 35-year-old woman punched the teenager several times in the face and choked her, police said on Friday. The 16-year-old suffered swelling on her face and strangulation marks, among other things, a police spokesman said. The teenager finally called the police herself after the older woman let go of her.

The police provisionally arrested the 35-year-old Magdeburg woman for similar offenses. A magistrate then ordered her detention as she saw a risk of repetition, according to the police spokesman. The case is being investigated for dangerous bodily harm.

According to the police, the women were acquaintances. The background to Tuesday's attack is not yet clear, the police spokesman said.

This incident could potentially escalate into further emergencies due to the woman's violent behavior. It's concerning to note that similar crimes might occur if not adequately addressed.
