Wegner: The police have my full backing

Berlin's CDU state chairman and governing mayor Kai Wegner has assured the police of his full backing in the current operations against the backdrop of the war between Israel and Hamas. "I am infinitely grateful to the Berlin police," Wegner said on Saturday at a CDU state representatives' meeting in Berlin-Mitte.

He knows how hard their work is, especially now, said the CDU chairman, referring to numerous demonstrations and clashes over the past few weeks. "You have my full support for your efforts."

Wegner also addressed the current discussion on migration. The capacity limits have been reached. "We often don't even know how we will manage to accommodate everyone," Wegner warned. "We have made it too difficult for those we need to come to our country," said the CDU politician, referring to the shortage of skilled workers. And we have made it too easy for smugglers and traffickers. "We must finally put a stop to them."

Despite the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas, Wegner emphasized the importance of supporting the police during their operations, expressing his gratitude for their work. The challenging circumstances, marked by numerous demonstrations and clashes, have not deterred Wegner from pledging his unwavering support to the police. Although there's a controversial discussion on migration, Wegner acknowledged the pressing need for skilled workers, implying that the current policies have made it too challenging for them to come, while at the same time, making it too easy for smugglers and traffickers, which needs to be addressed to curb their activities.
