- Three females spearhead collective sculpture initiatives slated for 2027.

The upcoming outdoor art exhibition, Sculpture Projects 2027 in Münster, will be headed by an international curatorial team for the first time. The city of Münster and the Westphalia-Lippe Regional Authority (LWL) made this announcement. Taking over the artistic direction for the sixth installment will be Ivet Ćurlin, Nataša Ilić, and Sabolović from the group "What, How and for Whom/WHW".

Previously, for the initial five editions of this contemporary art display in public areas, Kaiser König served as the artistic director. He was also the brainchild of the open-air exhibition, which has been occurring every decade since 1977 and is globally recognized as one of the significant open-air exhibitions. König had announced in 2017 that he would be leaving his position. Tragically, he passed away on August 9, at the age of 80.

In 2017, this event, attracting over 600,000 visitors, broke records. In 2027, the German Art Foundation is set to provide the exhibition with 1 million euros in funding.

The Landscape Association of Westphalia-Lippe has expressed their support for the upcoming Sculpture Projects 2027, acknowledging the change in artistic direction from Kaiser König to the international team "What, How and for Whom/WHW". The Landscape Association of Westphalia-Lippe will play a crucial role in ensuring the exhibition's integration with the local environment and landscape.
