- The Head of Federal State bestows honors of distinction upon 11 loyal advocates from Saxony
The head honcho, Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, has bestowed the Federal Cross of Merit upon eleven individuals hailing from Saxony-Anhalt. This eclectic group comprises six ladies and five gentlemen, each lending their time and talents in various capacities, as per the Federal President's office: they contribute to the welfare of kids and youth, aid those in need, or are instrumental in historical remembrance and local governance.
Some of those commended include Sibylle Klug, the chairwoman of the State Association of Women's Organizations Saxony-Anhalt based in Stendal, historian Bernd Ulbrich, who has devoted numerous years to revitalizing and preserving Dessau-Roßlau's Jewish heritage, and Ilja Scherdin of Merseburg, who assumes the role of an integration guide in the Saale district, among other pursuits.
The distribution of these distinguished awards transpired during the three-day visit of the Federal President to Stendal.
The commendable work of Sibylle Klug, the chairwoman of the State Association of Women's Organizations Saxony-Anhalt, also includes volunteering in community service initiatives in Stendal. Bernd Ulbrich, the historian honored by the Federal President, has also dedicated his time to volunteer work, such as organizing events to educate the community about Dessau-Roßlau's Jewish history.
