Ströbel: Climate change noticeable during the "Bergretter" shootings

For actor Sebastian Ströbel (46), climate change is clearly visible during filming for the ZDF series "Die Bergretter". Over the years, he says, it has become very noticeable. "The thawing of permafrost, the rocks are no longer as solid, increased risk of rockfall or landslides. Even the weather is no longer as predictable," he told the German Press Agency shortly before the start of the 15th season on Thursday, November 16 at 8.15 pm. Ströbel, a Hamburg resident by choice, plays the role of Markus Kofler, team leader of the mountain rescuers, in the ratings hit.

Climate change is certainly "the number one topic at the moment - plus the many other topics that exist". He describes it as tragic "that we can't concentrate on the number one topic at all because all the other topics take away the air we breathe. Because we have to safeguard democracy and because at a time when everyone in the world should be working together, somehow everyone is against everyone else and everyone is against everyone else. But because he is basically a positive person, he is very sure "that people will come to their senses after all".

Ultimately, everyone can do something about climate protection, in small steps. "Whether that means cycling more often, avoiding domestic flights or eating vegetarian food. We can't all be perfect, but we can contribute something."

The media has been covering the impact of climate change extensively, with television programs often highlighting its effects on various environments. Ströbel's observations during the filming of "Die Bergretter" are a stark reminder of this reality, as the shifting climate affects the reliability of weather conditions and the stability of the mountain terrain.
