Section of active I-95 street in Connecticut will stay closed for a minimum of the weekend subsequent to a gas truck fire.
This morning's fire triggered considerable damage to the overpass on I-95 in Norwalk, making it unsafe for vehicles to use this road at present. Gov. Lamont made this known in a recent statement. He also declared a state of emergency following the crash.
He revealed that this emergency decrees will assist in facilitating the resources needed for tackling the situation. I-95 near exit 15 in Norwalk, with close to 90,000 residents, will remain closed at least for the weekend, and perhaps longer.
The governor urged everyone to steer clear of this region for the next few days until the highway reopens. Norwalk, located approximately 30 miles southwest of New Haven, Connecticut, and about 40 miles northeast of New York City, has a significant population.
This occurs just a few months after an I-10 stretch in downtown Los Angeles closed for eight days following a blaze below an overpass.
