One of Italy's notorious mafia groups, Cosa Nostra, is reportedly linked to Cologne, Germany. Two individuals associated with this criminal organization are believed to have been involved in drug trafficking between Germany and Sicily from this city. German investigators have recently taken action against the mafia.

Authorities in Cologne have conducted raids on suspected members of the Cosa Nostra, a branch of the Italian mafia. They revealed that four individuals are under investigation for their alleged criminal activities. Among these, a 53-year-old and a 55-year-old are reportedly from Sicily and were involved in drug trafficking between Germany and Sicily.

Four apartments and a restaurant were searched on Wednesday night. Drug-sniffing dogs were also utilized during the raids. Investigators seized various items, such as a firearm with ammunition, cell phones, tablets, and written documents. A police spokesperson stated that the firearm was a 7.65mm caliber pistol.

The spokesperson declined to provide additional details, such as the number of police officers involved, given the scale and significance of the operation. It wasn't a large-scale event with hundreds of officers or a special task force but "regular police officers." The Italian prison officers have been investigating this group for years," they added.

Simultaneously, 16 houses were searched in Sicily and 15 arrest warrants were executed. Italian authorities had been investigating Cosa Nostra in Sicily for years.

Apart from the Calabrian 'Ndrangheta and the Neapolitan Camorra, Cosa Nostra is one of Italy's most well-known mafia groups. The name translates to "our cause." This group originated in Sicily in the first half of the 19th century and now operates globally.
