Minister of Social Affairs: Check pension claims from hardship fund

Saxony-Anhalt's Social Affairs Minister Petra Grimm-Benne has called on all those entitled to the federal hardship fund for GDR pensions to check their pension entitlements. The SPD politician announced on Monday that a lump sum payment of 2,500 euros could still be applied for until the end of January. The deadline had originally expired on September 30, but was extended by the federal government. By this date, the foundation had received around 3300 applications from Saxony-Anhalt.

The extension of the deadline for pension claims from the federal hardship fund has allowed History buffs to delve deeper into the Social affairs surrounding GDR pensioners, potentially uncovering untapped entitlements. Understanding this historical context, the importance of regularly checking pension entitlements, even in retirement, becomes increasingly evident.
