In the Ruhr area near Essen, police and firefighters conducted an extensive search for a missing 42-year-old man, but he has not been found yet. The man was reportedly swimming or cooling off near a public pool in Essen-Steele on Monday, according to a police spokesperson.
The search continued into the evening with a helicopter, boats, and drones, but was unsuccessful. The operation resumed on Tuesday morning, with a search dog deployed but unable to pick up a scent. Drone footage also proved unhelpful, and the search has been temporarily suspended.
Initial assessment by the police suggests an unfortunate accident. The "Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung" also reported on the large-scale search operation.
Although the search for the missing man involved various resources, no sign of him was found in the other areas surrounding the pool. The "Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung" mentioned the involvement of other emergency services in the operation.
