Kristin Chenoweth opens up about experiencing domestic abuse, sharing that she was severely hurt.

"I've been thinking a lot about the Sean Combs video, and it's really bothering me. To be honest, I need to pray for him. Seriously," Chenoweth shared on her social media.

One person replied, urging Chenoweth to pray for the victims instead. She then explained the purpose of her message.

"I never wanted to talk about this, but here it goes. A few years ago, I experienced severe abuse. It took therapy and prayer for me to realize I deserved better," Chenoweth said. "I was physically and spiritually hurt."

This revelation came as part of the ongoing conversation surrounding a CNN report published on Friday which featured a video of Combs physically assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Ventura, in 2016.

Ventura had dated Combs on and off from 2007 to 2018, and filed a lawsuit against him in November. She alleged he raped her in 2018 and subjected her to years of abuse throughout their relationship. The case was settled. Combs' lawyer, Ben Brafman, denied the allegations, saying the settlement "in no way undermines [his] flat-out denial of the claims."

On Sunday, Combs issued an apology for his actions in the video.

Through her own journey towards recovery, Chenoweth found solace in her faith.

"The only thing I could do after getting out of that toxic relationship was to pray. Pray for myself. Pray for him as he grew up abused. So, there you have it."

In the end, Chenoweth emphasized the importance of prayer as a means of healing from abuse. "The only thing I knew to do when I got out was pray."
