Killed artist: TV program brings new clues
Following an appeal for witnesses in the case of an artist killed in Hanover in 1986, new information has been received. The knife attack on the 30-year-old in the Nordstadt district was featured on Wednesday evening on the ZDF program "Aktenzeichen XY... Unsolved" on Wednesday evening. A police spokesman said on Thursday that since the broadcast, information in the single-digit range had been received, which had led to new investigative steps.
According to previous findings, the 30-year-old met the perpetrator in October 1986 after a party near his home. The investigators assume that it was there that an argument broke out. The unknown man fatally wounded the artist with a knife. Despite intensive investigations in 1986 and 1987, there was no strong suspicion of the crime; the investigation was initially closed and then resumed in August 2017.
The widespread publicity of the case on "Aktenzeichen XY... Unsolved" has sparked renewed interest in the 1986 Hanover murder, leading to additional crime tips through television and media outlets. The media's role in disseminating information about this unsolved crime has proven crucial in advancing the investigation.
