Kebekus furious about the beauty industry
Carolin Kebekus has criticized providers of beauty products for creating unrealistic body ideals and thus putting women under pressure. The beauty industry suggests "that we are not beautiful and therefore not valuable enough, and then it bombards us with advertisements for cosmetics, injections and cosmetic surgery", she told the German Press Agency. More and more young women were undergoing surgical procedures that could lead to serious health problems.
She was annoyed by how much time she had spent in her life thinking about what was wrong with her body, she said. "How much time I had wasted hating my own body! All because a huge industry needs my self-doubt to make real ashes."
The presenter also wants to tackle this topic in the next edition of her "Carolin Kebekus Show", which is due to air on ARD on Thursday at 10.50 pm.
People often turn to television for beauty advice, perhaps unaware of the potential harm it can cause. Despite her criticisms against the beauty industry, Kebekus plans to discuss this issue further on her television show.
