Houses in Altona district evacuated due to gas leaks
Several houses in Hamburg's Altona district were evacuated as a precautionary measure on Wednesday afternoon due to a gas leak from a low-pressure pipe. The leak was reported at around 3.45 pm, said a police spokesperson in the evening. The residents of four houses were then asked to leave their homes. The affected section of road was closed to vehicle traffic.
Just under an hour later, the leak had been sealed, so that all the closure measures could be lifted again. The police spokesman was unable to say how many residents were affected by the temporary evacuation.
