Hessian AfD elects state executive committee
The Hessian AfD is holding a state party conference this Saturday (10.00 a.m.) in Karben in the Wetterau district. The focus of the event, which is expected to attract up to 224 delegates, will be the state executive elections. An alliance of 19 organizations and institutions wants to protest against the event and has called for a counter-event.
There are not expected to be any surprises at the top of the state executive committee; the two co-chairmen Andreas Lichert and Robert Lambrou are standing for re-election and there were initially no opposing candidates. The press spokesperson for the Hessian AfD, Aljoscha Harmsen, said that individual members will probably be newly appointed. Before the elections, AfD federal board member Maximilian Krah will give a welcome address. He is the party's top candidate for this year's European elections.
The Hessian AfD party members are anticipated to elect their state executive committee during the conference, with co-chairmen Andreas Lichert and Robert Lambrou seeking re-election. Despite protests from an alliance of 19 organizations and institutions, there are no major challenges expected for the current leadership.
