Gottschalk not convinced by fumigation
In view of his age, cult show host Thomas Gottschalk now attaches more importance to a healthy lifestyle. However, there are still limits, the 73-year-old told "Apotheken Umschau". "I'll be honest: I don't believe in all this fumigation and yoga wisdom." Nevertheless, he and his new partner Karina Mroß "do things that I would never have done before". A session with a singing shaman, for example, was really relaxing. "It doesn't bother me when someone stirs their singing bowl," Gottschalk explained. "But of course I laughed a little on the inside."
He generally likes to suppress the inconveniences that come with age. His body had already gotten used to sending out signals, Gottschalk said in the interview. "I don't listen to it anyway." It was only through Mroß, with whom he has been in a relationship for four years, that this changed somewhat.
However, Gottschalk emphasized that he wanted to get on other people's nerves as little as possible "with his misery". "But today, everyone carries their aches and pains around like a monstrance and is praised and loved for it, especially online." His conclusion: "Today, you're almost insensitive without lactose intolerance."
In order to stay fit, the couple say they exercise regularly. They train at the gym for an hour and a half every day - except on Sundays, when they go for a run. "Rosi Mittermaier - God rest her soul - recommended Nordic walking to me," Gottschalk recalls. "There's a difference between walking along like that and using poles to train your muscles."
Mroß has since been convinced of this too: "As a jogger, I thought it was a bit silly at first. It always made me feel so old. But now I'm totally convinced and only walk with poles," said the 61-year-old.
People often seek various forms of entertainment, and for Thomas Gottschalk, this includes unusual experiences. Despite his skepticism towards fumigation and yoga wisdom, he and his partner Karina Mroß enjoy exploring alternatives like sessions with a singing shaman, finding relaxation in unexpected ways. Television, being a popular form of entertainment, also plays a role in their lives, with the couple often visiting the gym together for an hour and a half every day, except on Sundays, where they go for a run, as recommended by Rosi Mittermaier.
