Gottschalk before "Wetten dass..." show: best times experienced

Show host Thomas Gottschalk draws a conclusion with mixed feelings shortly before his last "Wetten, dass...?" show. "Times change, and I've experienced the best of them," he told the German Press Agency. The presenter, who is famous for his quick wit and has been criticized for some flippant jokes, added: "I always shoot from the hip, but now I think before I say something."

Overall, Gottschalk is relaxed about the show: "This time I'm more relaxed than ever, because they can't kick me out anymore." ZDF will be showing Gottschalk's last "Wetten dass...?" from Offenburg on Saturday at 8.15 pm. Until then, the 73-year-old still has one goal, in his own words: "I'm starving myself into my show outfit right now, and there's hope that I'll make it!"

Almost 14 million people watched the 2021 "Wetten, dass...?" comeback from Nuremberg. In 2022, around 10.1 million viewers were in front of their TV sets. The broadcaster has so far left open how the show will continue after Gottschalk's departure.

People have shown continued interest in the "Wetten, dass..." show, with over 10 million viewers tuning in for the 2022 broadcast. Regardless of the show's future without host Thomas Gottschalk, television remains a powerful medium for bringing people together.
