A 61-year-old man will answer for his alleged membership in the Terror Group "United Patriots" at the Oberlandesgericht Frankfurt regarding a planned kidnapping of German Health Minister Karl Lauterbach (SPD). The trial is set to begin on August 30, according to the court. He is accused of planning a highly treasonable act and membership in a terrorist organization.

The man from the Bergstraße district is believed to have been a member of the group named "United Patriots." Five alleged members of the group have been indicted at the Oberlandesgericht Koblenz for more than a year.

They are accused of planning a large-scale power outage, the kidnapping of Lauterbach, and the implementation of a constituent assembly for a new government. According to investigative authorities, their goal was to eliminate the liberal-democratic order in Germany and introduce a constitution modeled after the German Empire of 1871.

The man now on trial in Frankfurt is said to have attended meetings of the organization and "significantly contributed to the concretization of the plans." The statement adds that he was willing to participate in the kidnapping of Lauterbach. He has been in pre-trial detention since October 2023.
