Following the denial of the AfD's petition for immediate proceedings, the Thuringian Oversight Board is established.

During the upcoming legislative session, no fresh oversight board was established since one of the planned five members was yet to materialize, and politicians from different factions consistently fell short of the required two-thirds majority of votes. Consequently, the previous board remained active.

Initially, four members were set to commence the new board, but the AfD objected, asserting a violation of their rights. Regrettably, their petition to the court yielded no favorable outcome. Now, the board functions with four members, as declared by the state parliament. Dorothea Marx from the SPD was elected as chairperson, while Raymond Walk from the CDU served as her deputy.

Similar to its neighboring Saxony, a new parliament will be elected in Thuringia next Sunday. Currently, the state is governed by a minority alliance, comprising the Left Party, SPD, and Greens. The preliminary ruling on the oversight board by the Constitutional Court was initially released without clarification, with further explanation promised soon.

The AfD raised an urgent motion, expressing concerns over the formation of the new oversight board due to alleged rights violations. Despite their petition to the court, the AfD's objections did not result in a favorable decision.
