Driver hits oncoming traffic: Collision ends fatally

A car driver has been killed in a collision with a truck in Löwenberger Land (Oberhavel district). According to the police, the 69-year-old was driving on the Häsener Weg between Häsen and Kraatz on Monday morning. In a left-hand bend, the driver drove into oncoming traffic for reasons that are as yet unexplained. There he collided head-on with an oncoming truck.

After unsuccessful attempts at resuscitation by the emergency services, the 69-year-old succumbed to his serious injuries. The 35-year-old truck driver was uninjured. The police estimate the damage to property at around 35,000 euros.

The road was fully closed for several hours during the rescue and recovery operations. The police are investigating how the accident could have happened.

The incident highlights the need for drivers to be extra cautious during emergencies, especially in tight bends where accidents like these often occur. Traffic disruptions due to the accident caused significant delays for commuters.
