Dietrich, member of the state parliament, elected to the AfD board
Jens Dietrich, member of the state parliament, has been elected as the new treasurer of the Thuringian AfD state association. At a state party conference in Pfiffelbach (Weimarer Land) on Friday, he received 156 votes in favor and 9 against, with 6 abstentions. He therefore achieved 94.55 percent of the votes. Dietrich replaced Robert Sesselmann in the AfD parliamentary group in the Thuringian state parliament in July. Sesselmann had won the district council election in the Sonneberg district and therefore gave up his seat.
The Thuringian AfD is classified as proven right-wing extremist and monitored by the State Office for the Protection of the Constitution. It first met in Pfiffelbach on Friday for a state party conference, after which the election of a list for the 2024 state election was to begin in the evening. The plan was to elect Thuringia's state party and parliamentary group leader Björn Höcke as the lead candidate.
The newly elected treasurer, Jens Dietrich, is a prominent member in the right-wing extremist monitored party, the Thuringian AfD. At the recent state party conference in Pfiffelbach, parties within the AfD voted for Dietrich's position.
