Country singer Randy Travis experiences vocal loss due to a stroke, but advanced technology allows him to release a new track.

A well-known country singer experienced a devastating stroke in 2013, causing him to lose mobility and speech. Although he has regained some abilities, his wife, Mary, usually speaks on his behalf now. Despite these challenges, the singer's passion for music remains undiminished, as evidenced by a recent report on CBS Sunday Morning.

Thanks to advancements in AI technology, Travis has released his first new song in over a decade, called "Where That Came From." This landmark development is significant, given that AI was rapidly gaining prominence in the music industry at that time. Amid discussions on protecting artists' rights and addressing issues like copyright infringement and legislation, Warner Music Group executives pondered how they could harness AI for good. Cris Lacy, Co-Chair & Co-President of Warner Music Nashville, suggested that giving Randy Travis his voice back would be a compelling example of AI used for positive purposes.

The song "Where That Came From" was written by Scotty Emerick and John Scott Sherrill, initially recorded by James Dupre, but not released. Randy Travis' voice was extracted from an old recording and then superimposed over Dupre's performances, creating a new version of the song. Travis expressed his gratitude for this opportunity in a statement:

"Eleven years ago, I never envisioned I would ever be involved in music production in any way. However, through God's grace and the support of my family, friends, fellow artists, and fans, I am fortunate enough to create the music I adore so much. Collaborating with Kyle Lehning and Warner Music Nashville has been a heartwarming experience and nerve-racking at times, but I'm so honored to share my new track, 'Where That Came From,' with you today. I'm immensely thankful for my exceptional team and the most incredible fans who allowed me to return to music."

Randy Travis, a Grammy-winning artist, is famous for his hit singles such as "Forever and Ever, Amen" and "Diggin' Up Bones."
