Thousands of singers will fill the streets of Dortmund on a Saturday. At the Choir Festival, 140 choirs and ensembles from the Ruhr area and other regions of the country will come together, organizers announced. This is part of the Klangvokal Music Festival, which features folk music from all over the world and has been happening for 16 years. The excitement for this event has not diminished.
The event will kick off in the morning with performances on outdoor stages, in churches, concert halls, or the Museum for Art and Cultural History. The participants are a diverse group: there are children's choirs, school choirs, and ensembles from concerts and churches. Their repertoire includes everything from classical music to jazz, pop, musicals, and even a cappella. Some locations are even expected to have a party atmosphere, and audience members are encouraged to sing along.
In the evening, a special treat awaits classical music fans at St. Reinold Church: The Dortmund Chamber Orchestra, soloists, and soloists from the Collegium Musicum of Chorakademie Dortmund, and the Finnish choir Kampin Laulu will perform Mozart's "Great Mass in C Minor."
