Champions FC Bayern give RB Leipzig a lesson

Promoted RB Leipzig continue to pay the price in the women's Bundesliga. Coach Saban Uzun's team lost 3-0 (0-3) to German champions FC Bayern Munich on Sunday and suffered their fourth defeat in their fifth match. However, RB played against three top teams. Giulia Gwinn (8th minute) put Bayern ahead before Jovana Damnjanovic (14th/42nd) added a brace to make the final score.

Munich, who are still unbeaten in the current season but have drawn two games, got off to a furious start. After three minutes, Lea Schüller was through on goal, but her lob over RB keeper Elvira Herzog missed the target by a few centimeters. Five minutes later, when the RB defense could only clear the ball to the penalty spot, Gwinn was in the right place and took the lead. It was the international's first goal of the season.

Leipzig's backline looked extremely unsure of themselves and could hardly find a way to counter the pressing visitors. After a pass from Schüller, Damnjanovic increased the lead to 2:0. Shortly before the break, Damnjanovic was sent down the right flank and her shot from an acute angle into the near corner looked anything but good for RB keeper Herzog. After the break, the visitors shifted down a gear and the RB women showed a little more presence in the tackles and were thus able to level the half.

Despite their promotion, RB Leipzig's women's team is struggling in the Bundesliga, as evidenced by their 3-0 loss to FC Bayern Munich's women's team in the Bundesliga. In contrast, RB Leipzig's men's team, RB Leipzig, has been making waves in the Bundesliga, even challenging the dominance of teams like FC Bayern Munich.
