Cassie discusses mistreatment by P. Diddy

A leaked surveillance video showing rapper Sean 'Diddy' Combs physically assaulting his then-girlfriend, Cassandra 'Cassie' Ventura, in 2016 has shocked the world. Now Ventura has spoken up for the first time, sharing her gratitude for the support received from family, friends, and strangers, saying it has given her a safe space to heal.

In an Instagram post, the 37-year-old singer expressed her emotions as she recalled the abuse she suffered, admitting that the ordeal had left her with emotional scars. She went on to emphasize that this was just the beginning of her journey to recovery, acknowledging that the aftermath of the incident had caused her to change into someone she never wanted to be. "My younger self is starting to feel safe now, due to the love and support from those who care," Cassie shared.

In late 2020, Ventura had filed a lawsuit against Combs, accusing him of abuse and rape. The case was settled out of court just a few hours after it was filed. In her recent statement, the singer urged victims of violence and abuse to be believed, recognizing the challenges of speaking out against their abusers. She urged victims to reach out to those who care, avoiding the burden of carrying the pain alone.

Combs regretfully admits guilt

Diddy had previously denied any allegations against him. However, after the public release of the disturbing footage, the 54-year-old rapper came forward with a heartfelt apology. Posting on Instagram, he admitted, "It's hard to reflect on the darkest times in your life. You have to. I was at my lowest point back then, rock bottom. But I don't make excuses for my behavior in that video. It's inexcusable." Accompanying his message, Combs wrote, "I'm truly sorry."

Wigdor LLP, the law firm representing Ventura, bluntly criticized Combs' apology video as a self-indulgent attempt, rather than a genuine show of remorse. "Combs' recent statement is more about him than the many people he has hurt," said attorney Meredith Firetog. In their press release to Page Six, they recalled how the rapper initially denied the allegations and accused his accusers of seeking financial gain.
