Brad Pitt excels at portraying a racing driver.

The acclaimed actor Brad Pitt is proving to be more than just a pretty face. In his upcoming film, he'll be showcasing his skills as a Formula 1 driver. At age 60, Pitt has been training tirelessly for the part.

In his new project, the experienced thespian takes on the role of a once-famous Formula 1 driver. To give his portrayal an authentic touch, Pitt dedicated several months to comprehensively researching the craft. As per producer Jerry Bruckheimer, "He trained for four to five months. He's a fantastic driver. Some of the Formula 1 drivers even remarked that he's a natural-born athlete."

Bruckheimer further gushed about Pitt's remarkable driving abilities, although he wouldn't reveal the star's top speed during filming, saying, "I can't tell you. The insurance company would be furious."

The movie features Pitt as Sonny Hayes, a seasoned racing veteran who steps out of retirement to guide a younger driver on their way to success. Featuring Javier Bardem and Damson Idris as co-stars, the film is directed by Joseph Kosinski and is set to hit theatres in summer 2025. It's also worth noting that Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton is a co-producer.

Driving is his passion

Moviegoers can expect a heavy dose of real-life racing in the film, with minimal CGI use. To achieve this, shooting took place at the British Grand Prix in July 2023 and saw Pitt hop into the driver's seat of a modified Formula 2 vehicle. Excitedly sharing his experience with Sky Sports F1 presenter Martin Brundle, Pitt marveled, "I have to say, this is just magnificent to be here. It's such a joy, such a joy, the best time of my life."

Pitt's love for racing was not just limited to this film, as he had also been in the running for a different glamorous role. As per industry publication "Deadline", he was initially set to star as a film critic for adult magazines in director Quentin Tarantino's final film project, "The Movie Critic." However, production on the film was recently suspended due to Tarantino's doubts regarding the quality of his self-penned script.
