Beyoncé accused of plagiarism in recent releases.

Beyonce is recognized as a Grammy-award winner and became the first black woman to enter the country charts with her newest album. However, she's facing a plagiarism lawsuit, alongside other artists and Sony Music.

There's a possibility that parts of the song "Break My Soul" were stolen. Reports from the U.S. claim that members of a music group from New Orleans accuse Beyonce of using a sample from Big Freedia in her summer 2022 single without proper permission. Big Freedia, they say, had previously illegally used lyrics from "Release a Wiggle" - a song released as far back as 2002.

Da Showstoppaz, the group that claims the infringement, filed a lawsuit in Louisiana on May 22. According to "Rolling Stone" and other sources, Beyonce used elements from Big Freedia's 2014 track "Explode," which contained copyrighted lyrics, melodies, and musical arrangements from "Release a Wiggle." Along with Beyonce and Big Freedia, Sony Music and Jay-Z, Beyonce's husband, are also listed as defendants.

Yet, while Beyonce, Big Freedia, and all the other parties involved received numerous awards, substantial profits, tour fees, and royalties, Da Showstoppaz received none - no credits, no recognition, no aid in any form. They're demanding to be included, gain royalties from "Break My Soul" and "Explode," and earn royalties on future licenses for both songs.

"Break My Soul" was the lead single from Beyonce's album "Renaissance," and it topped the charts in various countries including the U.S. in 2022. Source
