Anya Taylor-Joy and Charlize Theron are looking forward to sharing their 'Furiosa' experiences over a long dinner.

A close-to-ten-year gap since Charlize Theron's role in "Mad Max: Fury Road," the franchise persists with the upcoming release, "Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga," helmed by George Miller.

Anya Taylor-Joy and Charlize Theron are looking forward to sharing their 'Furiosa' experiences over a long dinner.

The upcoming movie, set to release this week, is a precursor to the 2015 "Mad Max: Fury Road" and focuses on the character Furiosa, initially portrayed by Theron. This time, Anya Taylor-Joy takes on the main character in a story based on Furiosa's childhood and adolescence.

In a recent interview with CNN, Taylor-Joy expressed her admiration for Theron, who now shares the role in Miller's series.

"We've been emailing a bunch," Taylor-Joy said of her interaction with Theron. "We met at the Oscars, and she's just as lovely and gracious and cool as you could imagine. We're due for a very long dinner to swap stories. I feel so lucky to share a character with her. She's one of my favorite actors, and I think she's incredible."

Taylor-Joy stated that even before reading the script for "Furiosa," she had connected with the character. She attributed this to seeing Theron's depiction of Furiosa in "Fury Road."

"I was fortunate to fall in love with Furiosa through Charlize's portrayal in 'Fury Road.' The character had really stuck with me," explained Taylor-Joy.

Charlize Theron brings some star power to

Miller, the director who launched the "Mad Max" action series in 1979 with Mel Gibson in the title role, had considered having Theron reprise her role in the new film. However, he ultimately decided to cast a new actress to accurately depict Furiosa's timeline. (In the new film, Furiosa is seen from ages 10 to 26.)

Initially, Miller considered using de-aging technology to bring Theron back as Furiosa. But after observing the technology in other films, he decided against it.

"I thought about it with Charlize. But then I saw de-aging in the hands of great filmmakers like Martin Scorsese in 'The Irishman' and Ang Lee in 'Gemini Man,'" Miller told CNN. "The problem is that you only see the technology and not the performance. So there's a risk of being distracting."

This led Miller to choose Anya Taylor-Joy, known for her award-winning role in "The Queen's Gambit."

"I didn't know who could play the part," Miller said, acknowledging the significant shoes to fill. "Then I saw another one of Taylor-Joy's films and thought, 'Wow, she could pull this off.' She has that mystery, a timeless quality, and a wonderful intensity, almost regal."

Hemsworth, known for his role as Thor in the Marvel films, takes on a villain's role alongside Taylor-Joy.

"This was completely different from anything I had done before," Hemsworth shared with CNN.

In the movie, Hemsworth undergoes a significant transformation, sporting a prosthetic nose, fake teeth, and long hair.

"The prosthetics, the hair, the makeup all contribute to an immersive experience as an actor," Hemsworth said. "It makes it so much easier to get into the moment and inhabit the character."

"Furiosa" marks the fifth film in the "Mad Max" franchise. Miller has already conceived stories around other characters, although he remains vague about any future projects.

"Similar to 'Furiosa,' we've written a story for Max during the year before he appears in 'Fury Road,'" Miller hinted. "I know what happens to him, and I've often thought about what happens after 'Fury Road.'"
