Actor Til Schweiger is scheduled for heart surgery.

German actor Til Schweiger has faced a tumultuous 2023, and his 2024 has been marked by health issues. Recently, Schweiger was hospitalized for an "open leg" injury.

Now, according to a newspaper report, Schweiger is facing his next health challenge. The 60-year-old actor is reportedly scheduled for heart surgery. The "Bild" newspaper claims this information comes from one of Schweiger's closest associates, without specifying a date for the operation.

Apparently, Schweiger will undergo a stent insertion. The reason behind these health problems, the newspaper reports, is Schweiger's long history of smoking. Schweiger has already consulted cardiologists in Berlin to discuss the procedure.

Not long ago, Schweiger donated 20,000 euros to help his friend Heinz Hoenig pay for a heart operation. "Yes, that's right. I heard on Saturday evening at a birthday party that he was so ill," Schweiger confirmed to "Bild am Sonntag." Hoenig does not have health insurance, making the costs for the operation difficult to cover.

Although Schweiger should have no trouble financing his own operation, the newspaper notes that it may be a while before he undergoes it. His "open leg" injury, which is still healing, may increase the risk of complications.

Schweiger's 2023 was rocky, highlighted by allegations on his movie "Manta, Manta 2." At that time, there were allegedly employees on the film set who feared Schweiger. When asked if he was a "tyrant," Schweiger replied to "Stern," "The allegation was hard to take. Nobody needs to be afraid of me. I am a friendly person."

Speaking with "Stern" again in November, Schweiger openly discussed therapy for his alcohol consumption, saying, "I have thought a lot. I've talked a lot with friends. And I've started therapy. And I've learned that I can't lose control anymore."
