A person was taken into custody by the New York police for allegedly hitting actor Steve Buscemi and someone else in an assault incident.

A 50-year-old man named Clifton Williams from New York is currently facing charges of assault in the second and third degree according to a statement released by the NYPD. The second incident took place last week where Williams is said to have assaulted Steve Buscemi, an actor.

Reportedly, Williams bashed Buscemi's face in the middle of Midtown Manhattan. Before this incident, he had also allegedly attacked a 22-year-old victim just 11 blocks away. The NYPD mentioned that the condition of the second victim was unknown and both attacks took place on Third Avenue.

Buscemi, after receiving necessary treatment for his eye injuries, was discharged from the hospital in stable condition. NYPD reported, "EMS responded and transported the victim to NYC Health and Hospitals/ Bellevue in stable condition for treatment regarding bruising, swelling, and bleeding to his left eye".

Buscemi's representative mentioned that the actor was one of the many victims of uncalled violence in the city and this incident added to the recent spate of random attacks in New York City where individuals were hurt while just walking down the streets.

Buscemi's publicist stated that Buscemi was "another victim of a random act of violence in the city" and he was thankful for everyone's well wishes but was saddened that this unfortunate event occurred even in his city.

Manhattan District Attorney's Office noted that Williams was yet to be arraigned and no information was provided about his defense attorney.

Buscemi, born and raised in Brooklyn, is known worldwide for his roles in movies like 'Reservoir Dogs' (1992) and 'Fargo' (1996), as well as TV shows 'Boardwalk Empire' and '30 Rock.'
