A car strikes a group of joggers, leaving three of them with severe injuries.

In the town of Schloß Holte-Stukenbrock near Bielefeld, a car driven by a 19-year-old individual collided into a group of eight joggers, resulting in major injuries for three of them. The mishap is currently being viewed as an accident by police officials.

According to a spokesperson from the police department, the accident occurred when the 19-year-old driver swerved off the road and rammed his vehicle head-on into the group of joggers. The extent of the women's injuries, aged 45, 46, and 75, is not known to pose any imminent threat to life at present. However, the situation is being monitored.

Fortunately, the remaining five joggers escaped injury but were quite shaken up, stated the spokesperson. The 19-year-old driver, in contrast, did not bear any harm from the crash. His car's windshield, on the other hand, bore visible signs of damage. Authorities managed to secure the vehicle.

A troop of fire engines, several ambulances, and a rescue helicopter arrived at the scene. The rescue helicopter was used to transport one of the severely injured joggers to a nearby hospital. The spokesperson also assured that it's being treated as a possible accident. The driver had possibly veered off the path for a yet-to-be-determined reason, mentioning a rural location.

The Westfalen-Blatt newspaper was among those to report the incident.
