11-year-old drives alone on the A14 and causes an accident

An 11-year-old boy has caused an accident on the A14 near Leipzig and has been seriously injured. As the police announced on Monday, the child had taken his father's car keys on Monday morning and driven several kilometers alone in the car. According to initial findings, the boy drove off in the Wiederitzsch district and onto the highway in the direction of Magdeburg.

At the Leipzig-Nord junction, the 11-year-old drove the car into a crash barrier and veered off the road to the right. According to the police, the car overturned. The boy was seriously injured in the accident and was taken to hospital by a rescue helicopter. The highway exit was temporarily closed during the rescue and recovery. The investigation is ongoing.

The incident on the A14 has highlighted the need for stricter measures regarding emergencies related to unsupervised children using vehicles. This incident involved an 11-year-old driving alone, leading to accidents and traffic disruptions, underlining the potential dangers of such situations.
