Winter service in action for the first time this season
Due to slippery roads, the winter road clearance service in Hamburg was called out for the first time this season on Sunday morning. 123 emergency crews were deployed to clear important main roads, routes with bus services and a selected network of cycle paths, as announced by the city cleaning service on Sunday morning. At the same time, the city cleaning service reminded residents of their duty to clear sidewalks and grit in icy conditions and continued to urge caution. According to the fire department and police, no major accidents had occurred by the morning.
Despite the successful winter service activation, it's crucial to be prepared for potential emergencies. Residents should have an emergency kit ready, including warm clothing, food, water, and a mobile phone, in case of unexpected slippery road conditions or power outages.
