Visiting Europe: Friends, Racists, and Islamists

We're determined to resist the lures of Sylt's music, Christmas markets, and the men's football European Championship. Our motto is: stay vigilant, eliminate racism. Even the tragic events in Mannheim present an opportunity for (poor) jokes.

In these trying times, it's hard not to feel discouraged. It seems like we're surrounded by fools who are seriously damaging our planet. While I could express my disappointment with the world, I don't want to contribute to potential flood disasters. Besides, the numerous dam breaks aren't just limited to waterways. I might as well sing about the state of our planet, but I'm wary of being mocked or assaulted on social media or by activists alleging support for a despotic regime.

Not long ago, I listened to "Nocturne" by Siouxsie and the Banshees in my car, where I usually embrace the music of my youth, and sang along to "Israel" with the words: "We are never alone - When we're singing, singing - Home, home! - To Israel." (We are never alone - When we're singing, singing - Home, home! - To Israel). The roof was open. Fortunately, nobody captured my performance and labeled me a sympathizer of an apartheid regime, complete with applause and "likes" - one of them even from a university president who then had to decide if she would continue in her position. Flourish democracy!

The female university president has since declared that she will make amends for her mistakes. This is a welcome development. While Jews have to consider their safety in today's world, the female president aims to fix her blunders - a move we all applaud.

The Sylter racists experienced similar consequences. Their songs were deeply problematic, combining racism with apparent enjoyment. Thankfully, no one gathered to assess their worldviews or clownishness, allowing them a second chance as part of the democratic legal system.

Leaving Sylt

Before I continue criticizing the Sylter racists as an apologist for Nazism: I found the Sylter songs reprehensible. How could you blend racism into fun songs? But it's not my place to judge those who identify as pro-Tommy Robinson or Trump supporters. Maybe the backlash was so swift because it involved immigrants who appeared well-integrated, in stark contrast to most immigrants and their descendants, who maintain vital services like public transportation, DHL deliveries, trash disposal, and keep hospitals from collapsing. We're accustomed to news from Saxony, not from Sylt.

The social media court wasted no time, wishing ill fortune upon the Sylter Champagne enthusiasts. All Nazis! Nazis out! Let's cast them off Sylt, to make a statement. I would have preferred if the recent hysteria had claimed the life of the police officer in Mannheim as well. Islamists out! Islamists out? Let's examine the state of affairs: Afghanistan and Syria show examples of non-Islamophobic leaders, but the significance of this is irrelevant.

Sideways Glances and Mannheim?

A young defender of free speech, who was assaulted by an Afghan man, had his motives shrouded in mystery. It took a few days for authorities to consider whether his attacker's intentions might be Islamist, though there were no assurances. In a popular magazine debating the issue of radical anti-Islam activists and violent Islamists two days later, I asked, fellow human (not a particularly good person), why the families and colleagues of the deceased aren't our first priority? This man's colleagues and family must have been shaken by the MP's flippant response: "Mannheim is dead?" after the interior minister commented, "The terrible death in Mannheim reveals...". The MP's political career remains intact, as she's pledged to learn from her errors.

Fortunately, there exists a different breed of politics that can be genuinely firm, not just for show: a megahard stance. Deportation is swift for nasty Islamists. This is a long-overdue turn for the better, particularly after the 2016 attack on the Berlin Christmas market.

We aren't interested in distractions like Sylt, songs, or Christmas markets when Europe is hosted by racists and Islamists. Not even from the WDR, those fools and their questionnaires. The national football team coach made it clear: "I hope I never have to read such ridiculous questionnaires again." Absolutely: Stay alert, racism has vanished!

Idiotic WDR. Tried to find out from the Germans if whites should no longer be in the male football team (potentially diverse). And a fifth agree. So the coach hopes that "we should open our eyes a bit more". Like Nicole already did with "a little peace". That's helped so far, at least the Russian isn't at the Brandenburg Gate. It's all a bit of a joke, but: Reference above!

In preparation for the European Football Championship 2024, the police in Mannheim need to be extra vigilant to prevent any incidents of racism, given the city's past experiences. Regardless, the city of Mannheim, located in the heart of Europe, is an international destination for the European Football Championship 2024, attracting fans from all over the continent.
