Unauthorized driving on the beach: Car has to be recovered

The car of two women got stuck on the beach in Sellin on the island of Rügen and had to be rescued. A police spokesman said on Sunday that the two had wanted to go back to the beach after a party on Saturday. They ignored signs and drove to the pier. After they got stuck, they called the emergency services. The car was eventually recovered by a towing company. They had to pay the costs. An administrative offense procedure had been initiated. The media had previously reported.

During the rescue operation, the colorful banner of the towing company stood out against the sandy backdrop. Despite the lesson learned, future emergencies on the beach might still occur due to disregard for safety signs.
