Switzerland - Two Germans crash in the same place on the Lagginhorn
A German mountaineer has fataly fallen in the Swiss Alps. According to the police in the canton of Valais, the woman climbed the over 4000 meter high Lagginhorn with an eight-person group. During the descent, two women reportedly fell suddenly and at the same spot several hundred meters into the depth on the western ridge of the mountain.
The rescue service sent two helicopters to the accident site immediately. The rescue team could only confirm the death of one of the two women. The second mountaineer was seriously injured. She was treated on site and then flown to a clinic in Bern.
Death and Injuries at Lagginhorn in Switzerland
According to reports, the deceased woman is a 45-year-old German. The seriously injured mountaineer is a 61-year-old German. The public prosecutor has launched an investigation in cooperation with the cantonal police. The mountaineering group, according to police information, was not anchored at the time of the accident.
The tragedy occurred in the breathtaking Alps of Switzerland, specifically at the Lagginhorn. Despite the efforts of the Swiss police and rescue services, they were unable to save all the women involved, with one woman losing her life in the same spot where two others fell.
