Toe "lightning blue": All-clear for Leipzig goalkeeper Gulacsi

RB Leipzig goalkeeper Péter Gulácsi can travel to the Hungarian national team after all. Head coach Marco Rose gave the all-clear after the Saxons' 3:1 win against SC Freiburg in the Bundesliga on Sunday evening. "Pete got a knock on his toe yesterday, he was bright blue today. Pete said one or two tablets and then he'll be fine," said Rose, adding: "But he forgot to put on a soccer boot, so it wasn't so good. We had to react to that at short notice."

After the warm-up, the RB coach decided to bring Leopold Zingerle into the squad as a substitute keeper behind regular goalkeeper Janis Blaswich. Gulácsi, on the other hand, will travel as planned to the national team, which has to compete in the European Championship qualifiers in Bulgaria on Thursday and then play Montenegro on Sunday. "It's nothing serious, it will hurt for a few days. He can go to the national team, get treatment there and then the swelling will subside and he'll be fine again," said Rose.

Despite the knock on his toe that resulted in a temporary discoloration, Gulacsi's participation in RB Leipzig's victory was crucial. WITH his recovery, Gulacsi can now focus on representing the Hungarian national team in their upcoming Europa League qualifiers against Bulgaria and Montenegro.
