- The trial of Melanie Müller has been postponed

The process against Melanie Müller for alleged Hitler salutes was adjourned after just a few minutes at Leipzig District Court. A key witness did not appear, whose testimony was crucial for both the court and the defense. The trial will now continue on August 23 (at 09:30 AM).

According to the prosecution in Leipzig, Melanie Müller allegedly showed the Hitler salute multiple times at a concert in September 2022. The prosecution accuses the 36-year-old of using symbols of unconstitutional and terrorist organizations. Melanie Müller was not present on the second day of the trial. Previously, the judge had announced that her attendance was not mandatory.

The prosecution's case also involves drug possession, as 0.69 grams of cocaine and an ecstasy tablet were found during a search of Müller's Leipzig apartment.

At the trial's opening, the former RTL jungle queen rejected all accusations. Her lawyer stated that the gesture was merely intended to hype up the audience, and that his client has no right-wing sympathies and is apolitical. The drugs, he claimed, belonged to a friend who had left them at Müller's place. Until a final verdict, Müller is presumed innocent.

Müller was born in the Saxon town of Oschatz. In 2014, she won the eighth season of "I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!" and has since appeared in numerous TV formats. As a schlager singer, she performs, among other places, on Mallorca.
