The latest Swiss Army Knife will lack a crucial attribute.

A representative of Swiss corporation Victorinox stated to CNN on Tuesday that they're in the early phase of creating pocket-sized tools sans blades. These new items will augment the brand's existing multi-tools rather than replacing them.

The spokesperson continued, "We prioritize innovation and consistently pay attention to our consumers' wants and needs. The Swiss Army Knife's versatility, functionality, and attention to detail are desired in various professions and settings."

This announcement stemmed from a conversation with CEO Carl Elsener Jr. who spoke with Swiss media outlet Blick regarding his concerns over multiple markets' escalating restrictions on knives.

Elsener mentioned that in countries like the United Kingdom, carrying a knife is only permitted for those who require it for work or outdoor activities. However, carrying a pocketknife is highly regulated in urban settings.

He noted that knives are often viewed as weapons in certain places, urging the company to explore different ventures for specific pastimes or outdoor activities, like cycling. "I have a unique idea for a cycling gadget in mind," he shared, "and we already offer a tool tailored for golfers."

The Victorinox legacy began in 1884 when Karl Elsener established the company, which incorporates a cross within a shield emblem. To combat the economic ramifications of the strong Swiss franc, which harm margins, the corporation has introduced new equipment lines such as socks, watches, and fragrances in recent years.

During a 2012 conversation with CNN's Richard Quest, Elsener Jr. expressed that a high-valued Swiss franc had significantly impacted their bottom line, prompting the necessity for "more innovation than our international competitors."

No particular release schedule has been disclosed for their latest product. Christian Streib assisted with this report.
