All Survivors Emerge Following Sinking of High-End Yacht Near Sicilian Island. The body of 18-year-old daughter of British tycoon Mike Lynch was the final one retrieved by professional divers following a four-day quest. She was discovered at a depth of roughly 50 meters in a difficult-to-reach section of the sailing yacht "Bayesian".

Among the seven deceased was Lynch himself, a prominent British billionaire, who was 59. His spouse was among the 15 individuals who made it through. Thankfully, another daughter was not on board. Lynch was celebrating his court victory in a prolonged dispute concerning the sale of his firm with relatives and companions during the sailing excursion.

Criticism Grows against Captain and First Officer

Doubts are now being expressed about the captain of the large sailing vessel. The 51-year-old New Zealander claimed to have been taken aback by the intensity of the storm on Monday morning. However, numerous experts challenge this account, suggesting that errors were made and the ship was not adequately prepared for the approaching storm. The first officer, a Frenchman, is also under suspicion.

Italian media reports suggest that the public prosecutor's office is on the verge of launching a formal investigation. The agency plans to release a statement at a press conference on Saturday. The Perini shipyard, which constructed the ship in 2008, stated that there was "a very long list of errors". "People shouldn't have been in the cabins, the ship shouldn't have been anchored there. The storm was obviously visible on all weather charts."

The 56-meter "Bayesian", named after an 18th-century British mathematician, was one of the largest sailing yachts in the world. It now rests half a nautical mile - about 900 meters - off the small harbor of Porticello. Apart from the ship's chef, the entire crew survived. However, half of the 12 passengers did not. Besides Lynch and his daughter Hannah, two couples also perished. They were likely trapped in cabin areas below deck. According to British media reports, Lynch was contemplating selling the yacht a few months ago.

Lynch's Companion Also Recently Passed Away

Lynch was frequently referred to as the "British Bill Gates" in his homeland. He sold his software company Autonomy to Hewlett-Packard in 2011 for $11 billion (currently almost $10 billion). Together with former finance manager Steve Chamberlain, he is said to have misled the US company about the state of their business. However, a jury acquitted both of them. Chamberlain also recently passed away: he was struck by a car while jogging.

The European Union expresses its sympathies towards the survivors and families affected by the tragic incident. The European Union's maritime safety agency has announced plans to conduct an investigation into the incident, involving the "Bayesian," to ensure such incidents do not occur in future voyages within the European Union waters.
