Key TV Show Premieres and New Seasons in August

"Bad Monkey": Available on Apple TV+ from August 14

Suspended cop Andrew Yancy (Vince Vaughn, 54) leads an idyllic life on the Florida Keys. But when a severed human arm is found, and his superiors advise him to dispose of the evidence, he suspects a murder case and seeks redemption. Together with medical examiner Rosa Campesino (Natalie Martinez, 40), Yancy takes on the investigation despite numerous obstacles.

The new detective comedy "Bad Monkey" on Apple TV+ is set equally on the sun-drenched Florida Keys and the Bahamas. The eccentric protagonist Yancy encounters a multitude of quirky and peculiar residents of these two island paradises throughout the ten episodes. "Bad Monkey" is based on the novel of the same name by Carl Hiaasen (71). "Scrubs" and "Ted Lasso" creator Bill Lawrence (55) serves as showrunner.

"The Bear: King of the Kitchen": Available on Disney+ from August 14

The acclaimed restaurant series "The Bear: King of the Kitchen" returns to Disney+ screens on August 14 with its third season. In Chicago, the opening of The Bear restaurant is imminent, and Carmy (Jeremy Allen White, 33) pushes his employees to new heights, formulating a series of demanding rules to ensure The Bear's excellence. Conflicts and tensions among the kitchen staff are inevitable.

The third season of "The Bear," which has already aired in the US, has just been nominated for an astounding 23 Emmys, including "Best Comedy Series." Lead actors Jeremy Allen White and Ayo Edebiri (playing Sydney Adamu, 28) are nominated for "Best Lead Actor" and "Best Lead Actress in a Comedy Series," respectively, breaking a 15-year record set by the comedy series "30 Rock" in 2009 with 22 comedy nominations.

"Emily in Paris": Available on Netflix from August 15

After a seemingly long hiatus of over a year and a half, the highly popular romantic comedy series "Emily in Paris" returns with its fourth season. Following the dramatic finale of season three and Camille's (Camille Razat, 30) failed wedding, the path seems clear for Emily (Lily Collins, 35) and her long-time crush Gabriel (Lucas Bravo, 36). However, Gabriel is also expecting a baby with his former fiancée, as Emily reveals to her best friend Mindy (Ashley Park, 33) in the trailer for the new episodes. Meanwhile, Mindy's band is preparing for the Eurovision Song Contest, and Sylvie (Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, 61), Emily's boss, and the team at Agence Grateau face organizational changes.

The fourth season of "Emily in Paris" will introduce new aspects of the French capital, as it will also be set in winter, offering new perspectives on fashion. This time, the main character Emily will also venture to Rome, and French First Lady Brigitte Macron (71) is set to make a cameo appearance.

The fourth season of "Emily in Paris" will premiere in two parts: four episodes will be available on August 15, with the remaining four episodes set to release on Netflix on September 12.

"Only Murders in the Building": Available on Disney+ from August 27

The beloved Murder-Mystery-Comedy series "Only Murders in the Building" starring Steve Martin (78), Martin Short (74), and Selena Gomez (32) is also returning at the end of August with a new season. The main trio will try to find out who killed Charles' (Martin) girlfriend and stunt double Sazz Pataki (Jane Lynch, 64) in the final moments of the previous season. Meanwhile, they'll also head to Los Angeles where a major Hollywood studio is planning to bring a film adaptation of the Only Murders podcast to the big screen.

In the fourth season of the critic's darling "Only Murders in the Building", viewers will see even more guest stars than before. Eva Longoria (49), "American Pie" star Eugene Levy (77), and comedian Zach Galifianakis (54) will play the series' main characters Charles, Oliver, and Mabel in the planned film project. Also joining them are comedians Melissa McCarthy (53), Molly Shannon (59), and Kumail Nanjiani (46). Oscar winner Meryl Streep, who was already in front of the camera for season three, will return as Loretta Durkin.

"The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power": Coming to Amazon Prime Video on August 29

Amazon's controversial "Lord of the Rings" series "The Rings of Power" is set to premiere its second season on August 29. After the Southlander Halbrand (Charlie Vickers, 31) was revealed to be Sauron in the final moments of the previous season, the dark lord now appears in elvish form to the smith Celebrimbor (Charles Edwards, 54), trying to persuade him to forge seven Rings of Power for the dwarves.

The trailer for the return of "The Rings of Power" promises an even more epic second season, featuring the land of Rhûn for the first time and the Ents, familiar from the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy. The season will end with an extended battle spanning multiple episodes, in which some main characters may die. New cast members include "Game of Thrones" star Ciaran Hinds (71) and Rory Kinnear ("Black Mirror", 46), who plays the Tolkien character Tom Bombadil. Sam Hazeldine ("Peaky Blinders", 52) takes over the character of Adar from Joseph Mawle (50).

In the world of television, the detective comedy "Bad Monkey" takes place in the Florida Keys, where a suspended cop named Andrew Yancy leads a peaceful life until a grisly discovery forces him to investigate.

Following the popular romantic comedy series "Emily in Paris," its fourth season returns on Netflix, with Emily and her love interest, Gabriel, facing new challenges in their relationship while exploring the winter-y aspects of Paris.
