Tesla abandons goal of producing 20 million electric cars.

Older environmental reports from Tesla indicated a target of producing 20 million electric cars per year. However, this goal has been removed from their latest environmental report.

The new environmental report, published on Thursday, only mentions Tesla's desire to stifle the use of fossil fuels by selling as many of their products as possible. Previously, the company stated that it would have to build numerous factories by the end of the decade to reach its target of producing 20 million vehicles annually.

Tesla has yet to comment on whether this goal has been officially abandoned. In 2021, the company saw a near 38% increase in deliveries, bringing the total to over 1.8 million vehicles. However, no forecast for 2024 has been given. Tesla has hinted at a slower pace of growth. Previously, CEO Elon Musk had stated that he expected to double deliveries every year.

Earlier this year, sales suffered a downturn, prompting Musk to reveal plans to bring cheaper models onto the market sooner than planned. These models are now expected to go into production before the second half of 2025. However, the manufacturing process will not be as drastically different as originally announced.

Musk also plans to unveil a robotaxi at the beginning of August. Recently, Tesla has faced increased competition from China and diminishing interest in electric cars in its home market of the United States.
