- Teaser with Jeff Goldblum as the Wizard of Oz
Still waiting, but a new teaser from Universal is heating up anticipation for the musical film "Wicked" among many cinema-goers. A recently released clip features the main stars, Cynthia Erivo (37) and Ariana Grande (31), along with Hollywood veteran Jeff Goldblum (71).
The film tells the story of the witches of Oz. Center stage are Elphaba, portrayed by Tony, Grammy, and Emmy-winning actress and singer Cynthia Erivo, and Glinda, played by megastar Ariana Grande. The two meet at Glizz University and become friends. However, after an encounter with the Wizard of Oz, played by Goldblum, their relationship changes. In the short video, Elphaba receives an invitation from the "wonderful Wizard of Oz" and sets off with Glinda before the Wizard makes his entrance.
Some social media users are already highly excited. Instagram comments are already referring to it as the "film of the decade," others think about it daily, and some even call it their favorite film, without having seen the magical adventure directed by Jon M. Chu (44).
The first chapter of "Wicked" is currently scheduled to hit German cinemas on December 12. A second part is planned for the 2025 Christmas season.
Working with another megastar
Marc Platt (67), one of the producers of "Wicked," is also working with Jon M. Chu on a project about another music megastar, according to recent US reports. It was recently announced that Britney Spears' (42) autobiography "The Woman in Me" will be adapted into a biopic. Chu will oversee the film project together with Platt. Spears hinted on the social media platform X that she is directly involved. She is excited to share that she has been working with Marc Platt on a "secret project." She stated that he has "always been my favorite film producer."
