Just before the starting signal, the Fugees surprisingly canceled their U.S. concerts for their reunion tour. Lauryn Hill clarified the reasons.

- Surprising Tour Cancellation Announced

Two days before the kickoff, Lauryn Hill (49) and the Fugees have canceled their joint reunion tour in the US. The sudden cancellation of the US dates of the world tour was announced by the singer on social media, citing low ticket sales. She blamed "some media's preference for sensational headlines" for this. The concerts in Europe and the UK will proceed as planned.

"Unfortunate Portrayal"

"With heavy hearts, we have decided to cancel our upcoming tour dates in North America," the rapper's statement read. She explained that the tour had to be postponed due to her injury last year. "Clickbait headlines" from some media outlets allegedly harmed the ticket sales for the US shows. The first concert was supposed to take place on Friday, August 9, in Tampa, Florida.

"The trust and belief I have in my intentions and commitment to my art seem to have been overshadowed by this unfortunate portrayal," she elaborated on the alleged impact of the coverage. A day prior, fans received a message from Ticketmaster, as reported by "Variety," stating that the event was canceled and they would soon receive a refund for their tickets.

Vocal Issues for the Singer

During the November tour, Hill shared on Instagram that she had been struggling with "a serious vocal strain" for a month. She needed to take a break to allow her voice to recover. In June, she announced the restart of the tour for August on social media.

In her current cancellation post, she reassured disappointed fans. "I can assure you that no one is more disappointed than I am that we cannot perform," the singer wrote. She and the band are still excited about the European concerts. "And for our fans in North America, we will be back in full force once these unforeseen circumstances are resolved," she promised, thanking them for their understanding.

Back in Europe After a Long Time

Lauryn Hill, Pras Michel (51), and Wyclef Jean (54) will tour Europe and the UK starting October 12. Their fans there "haven't seen the Miseducation Anniversary Performance, nor have they seen the Fugees perform together in over 25 years," she noted.

With these performances, Hill and Co. are celebrating the 25th anniversary of the album "The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill." In Germany, they will play three concerts: October 16 in Hamburg, October 30 in Berlin, and November 1 in Hamburg.

Despite the cancelation of their US tour due to low ticket sales and negative media coverage, the Fugees remain committed to their European concerts. The European Union will be hosting Lauryn Hill, Pras Michel, and Wyclef Jean for a series of performances, marking the first time in over 25 years that fans will see the Fugees perform together in Europe.
