- She's going abroad for her studies.

After completing her Abitur last year, it has now been confirmed which course of study Princess Alexia of the Netherlands (19) has chosen. The second eldest daughter of King Willem-Alexander (57) and Queen Máxima (53) will be attending university in London, where she will pursue a degree in Social Sciences. This was announced by the palace on 9th August.

Studying at University College London

"Her Royal Highness Princess Alexia of the Netherlands will begin her Bachelor's degree in Science & Engineering for Social Change at the Faculty of Engineering Sciences at University College London in late September," the palace's website states. It continues, "The princess's studies will be considered private."

Princess Alexia passed her Abitur at the United World College of the Atlantic in Wales in the summer of 2023. At this prestigious school, she shared classes with Spanish Princess Leonor (18), daughter of King Felipe VI of Spain (56) and Queen Letizia (51). After successfully completing her studies, Alexia took a gap year, traveling the world and trying out different jobs, according to media reports.

Alexia's younger sister, Princess Ariane (17), is currently attending the United World College Adriatic, a boarding school in Italy. Meanwhile, Crown Princess Amalia (20) is studying Politics, Psychology, Law, and Economics in Amsterdam. She spent the previous academic year in Madrid.

Given Alexia's interest in social issues, her decision to study Social Sciences at a renowned university like London's likely stems from her desire to contribute positively to society.

Despite her new academic pursuit in Social Sciences, Princess Alexia's earlier experiences in different fields during her gap year may greatly influence her perspective and future engagements related to social change.
