Searching for a timepiece and a mobile device in Solingen, according to inquisitors.
Three weeks after a gruesome knife attack at a city festival in Solingen, which left three individuals dead and eight others injured, the authorities are actively seeking help from the public. The North Rhine-Westphalia police have taken to their public search portal to spread the word about a misplaced Samsung mobile phone and an analog wristwatch.
The description on the platform mentions: "Is someone able to provide information regarding the shown mobile phone of the brand Samsung or the depicted analog watch? It's possible that the mobile phone was lost or abandoned in a damaged state in Solingen-Mitte on either August 23, 2024, or August 24, 2024. Has anyone found the mobile phone?"
Recently, the Solingen police conducted a search in a green area close to a bus stop. The prime suspect is believed to have boarded a bus from this stop before his exit from the scene on the night of the tragedy.
Terror Strikes Solingen City Festival
On the evening of August 23, an individual wreaked havoc at the city festival in Solingen by fatally stabbing three people and leaving eight others wounded with a knife. The main suspect, Issa Al H., a 26-year-old, is currently in custody, facing charges of murder. The Islamic State has taken responsibility for the heinous act.
Interestingly, "Der Spiegel" reported that investigators have come into possession of a phone that is believed to belong to Issa Al H. This device, a Chinese brand, was found on a nearby meadow following the event. There's another phone and a tablet that were discovered in a sewer earlier, however, they do not appear to belong to Issa Al H. The spokeswoman for the Federal Prosecutor's Office declined to comment on this matter.
The authorities are still appealing for information about a Samsung mobile phone and an analog watch, which were lost or abandoned near the scene of the knife attack in Solingen-Mitte on either August 23rd or 24th. Despite the ongoing investigation into the Solingen knife attack, the prime suspect is believed to have escaped by boarding a bus from a nearby bus stop.
