- Rescue operations in Kröv to continue in the morning

Following the collapse of a hotel in the Mosel town of Kröv, rescue operations and the search for the cause are set to resume this morning. According to a police spokesperson, the incident command will resume its on-site work around 9:00 AM. Two people died in the disaster, with several others trapped in the rubble for hours. The last surviving woman was rescued from the hotel late Wednesday evening.

The two fatalities were identified as a 1961-born woman and a man. While the woman's body was recovered late Wednesday afternoon, the man remains in the rubble. The man is believed to be the hotel owner.

With daylight, rescue operations are safer, the police spokesperson explained. It's not worth it if additional rescue personnel are put at risk. Martin Rolf, the first deputy mayor of Kröv, said the town is still in shock and disbelief following the incident. The incident site and some neighboring houses were guarded by police overnight.

Rescue and recovery work will continue this morning with the incident command resuming their on-site operations at 9:00 AM. Despite the successful rescue of the last trapped individual, efforts to locate and extract the missing hotel owner remain a priority in the rescue and recovery work.
