Police are investigating a death on U.S. military property.

On August 3rd, a man discovers the body of an employee on the grounds of a U.S. military base in the Westpfalz. An autopsy raises doubts about a natural death, and a 28-year-old colleague becomes a suspect. Before he can be arrested, he flees.

Police and prosecutors in the city of Kaiserslautern are investigating a possible homicide on the grounds of a U.S. military base in Rhineland-Palatinate. The victim is a 63-year-old employee of an external company who worked in a building on the site, according to investigators. His supervisor found him dead at his workplace on August 3rd.

The cause of death was initially unclear. An autopsy suggested that the 63-year-old died from violent injuries. A 28-year-old colleague is suspected, but before he could be arrested, he fled the country, according to police and prosecutors. No possible motive has been identified, and investigators are not releasing further details to avoid compromising the investigation.

The specific U.S. military base involved and the external company the men worked for, as well as the nature of their work on the military grounds, have not been disclosed.

The case has drawn the attention of international authorities, as the suspect is currently believed to be in another European country. The European Union has been contacted to assist in the extradition process.

In response to this incident, representatives from the European Union have expressed their concern and offered support to German authorities in their pursuit of justice.
