Paramedic tries to help - and is racially attacked
In the western part of Berlin, a racist incident occurs overnight: emergency services rush to a 20-year-old who has fallen while intoxicated. However, the woman refuses treatment from the arriving paramedic - and behaves discriminatorily.
A paramedic was racially insulted by the very woman she was trying to help during an emergency response in Berlin. The fire department was called to a hotel in the Charlottenburg district early Sunday morning, as reported by the police.
A man had alerted the emergency services after his girlfriend had consumed alcohol, lost consciousness briefly, and then fell. However, the 20-year-old refused to be treated by the paramedic and also racially insulted her. The emergency services then alerted the police.
A voluntary alcohol test on the 20-year-old showed a reading of 1.6 per mille. On the order of the public prosecutor's office, a blood sample was taken from her at the police station. The 20-year-old was then released. The State Office of Criminal Investigation's State Protection Police is investigating the case of racial insult.
The incident involved a medical officer, as the paramedic was the one subjected to racial insult. Despite requiring assistance, the 20-year-old showed discriminatory behavior towards the medical officer.
